New 2019 Coach Requirements

This year, MA Youth Soccer, in conjunction with and in compliance with USA Soccer, has adopted some new adult registration guidelines to comply with federal laws regarding adults working with children. To that end, all coaches in MA, including in MYSA, are required to be registered through MA Youth Soccer. Two of the credential requirements are the same; being CORI cleared and taking concussion training, and there is one new requirement, “Safe Sport” training. Safe Sport is about being a mandatory reporter of a suspected abused child. For more information you can refer to http://www.mayouthsoccer.org/assets/61/6/mass_youth_soccer__safe_soccer_-_adult_introduction_vfinal.pdf.

Here’s what all coaches and adults who will be working with the kids needs to do before their first practice:

The new coach (or any adult working with the kids) needs to click on the link; http://marblehead.mayouthsoccerconnect.org. This link will prompt the new coach to 1) Create a profile, 2) authorize a CORI check, 3) have them sign off on multiple disclaimers and acknowledgements, 4) give them a link to watch the required “Safe Sport” training video, 5) give them the link to watch the required “concussion training” video-based training, 6) upload any documents including picture and certificates of completion for the aforementioned courses. Once every required element is met, the coach will be cleared and issued credentials.

As a reminder, all MYSA coaches must comply with these requirements, from Fall 2019 onward.
